There are seven required lessons with comprehensive course videos. Complete them in about an hour, on your own time and at your own pace.

Live Fire Qualification

Schedule and pay for your in-person live fire qualification in the final lesson. This required final step is completed in St. Paul, MN and you're guaranteed to pass.

Apply For Your Permit

After your qualification, you'll receive a certificate of completion. This allows you to apply for your MN Permit to Carry at your county sheriff's office. 

About the Course

The online Minnesota Permit to Carry class is for students who want to complete the educational portion on their own time and at their own pace. This is the same course material you would receive in the in-person class. The comprehensive videos will give you the knowledge you need to own and carry a firearm responsibly. After watching the course videos, you will need to schedule and attend a live fire qualification in St. Paul. The total length of the course is 1 hour of videos on your time, plus an average of 15 minutes at the range. This course is designed for both beginners and seasoned permit holders.
